Makati Hope (MH) Language Center is an affiliate of HOPE ENGLISH which provides English as a Second Language (ESL) Study Program to both local and foreign individuals of all ages who wish to enhance grammar, vocabulary and communication skills in the English language. Located at Basement 1 of St. Francis SquareMall,Julia Vargas Ave. cor. Bank Drive, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City, Philippines, students are assured of accessibility and an environment conducive to learning.

MH Language Center offers different intensive training programs designed for every need of students to enhance the quality of written and communication skills of learners in the English language.

MH Language Center has appointed different types of approaches to address the need of every student to receive individual attention from their instructors. Every class is designed to fully challenge the students to reach their highest potentials by making the classes comprehensive and interactive through conducting social activities for a clear English communication. Class sizes are designed to be comprised of only a handful of students for intensive and efficient language training from the Filipino instructors which are carefully hand-picked and who are capable of passing on their adept knowledge in the proper usage and comprehension of the English language.

MH Language Center offers comprehensive and interactive English classes through conducting social activities as well as the English Summer Camp wherein students are given the opportunity to expand their vocabulary and proficiency in the English language as the day is packed with social activities with the balance of outdoor learning. MHLC instructors hold Professional License in Teaching, Certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and TMC (Trainer’s Methodology Certificate) backed by their years of experience and competence in the English language. With these competencies, teachers have an eye for innovation and are utilizing the best learning tools which lead to a full comprehension of the language. At MH Language Center:

HOPE English provides students complete English learning, from listening, reading, writing, grammar and speaking with the use of authentic materials, practical and interactive challenges. Language learning now becomes more convenient with the use of video and phone conferencing to meet the fast-paced demands of life and global standards.

• 1. English Level Test
     • The Level Test is a 10-20 minute, interactive, one-on-one examination/evaluation involving a prospective student and a teacher.
     • In this phase, a student is assessed of his or her English proficiency and is given necessary recommendations.
     • The English Level Test can be conducted using two methods, according to the student’s preference and /or circumstances: 1) A video Level Test 2) A Phone Level Test

  2. English as a Second Language (ESL)
     
     The center-based program offers Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels wherein we have listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar classes. It also provides comprehensive classroom instruction and interactive and functional application of the English language to achieve their personal needs in continuing education. Progress through levels will be measured by an approved standardized test like IELTS/TOEFL and documentation of attainment of competencies. Course duration runs for 40 hours, but students of beginner level are encouraged to go for 240 hours of English class.
  • Beginner English
    This course is designed to prepare learners with limited English proficiency to increase their ability to communicate in English and to correspond effectively in a multi-faceted society.
  • Intermediate English
    This course is designed to prepare learners with level higher than beginner English proficiency to increase their ability to communicate in English and to converse effectively in a wider variety of contexts. The content will be compatible with principles of language acquisition for learners of English and includes skills useful in daily social, educational and work-related life experience.
  • Advanced English
    This course is designed to prepare learners with level higher than intermediate English proficiency. At the end of the course, they should have the skills required to communicate effectively, appropriately, accurately and fluently in most contexts, topics and situations, from predictable to unfamiliar, and from general to professionally specific, in the most communicatively demanding situations of daily social, educational and work-related life experience, and in predictable contexts.
  3. Business English
     
     Business English is under the category English for Special Purposes (ESP) which aims the following:
     
     1. Use English for business communication in some situations via speaking, writing and listening;
     2. Read adapted passages and articles on business topics and identify main ideas;
     3. Carry on business correspondence by understanding and replying to simple in-coming e-mails, faxes and others.
     4. To communicate information that is complete, correct, comprehensible and valuable.
     5. To adapt to new work environment, interact with unfamiliar people in unfamiliar situations by providing relevant materials.
  4. TOEFL Learning
     Standardized tests are given to students who want to pursue higher education or get successful future employment locally and abroad. These tests are used to effectively measure the English proficiency of learners and match appropriate jobs.
  5. Power Speech
     
     
     Our engaging conversational books include exercises for asking better questions, providing clearer answers, paraphrasing global proverbs, and for expressing personal opinions in English.
  6. IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
     Hope English helps assess the language ability of students who need to study or work where English is the language of communication.It covers the four language skills –listening, reading, writing and speaking. IELTS is recognised by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. It is also recognised by professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies.
  7. American Accent Training
     The American Accent is the most popular English accent of all. Accent is a combination of three main components: intonation (speech music), liaisons (word connections), and pronunciation (the spoken sounds of vowels, consonants, and combinations). So, thinking of music, feeling, and flow, let your mouth relax into the American accent.
  8. Pre-School Learning
     The pre-school learning curriculum is geared to develop the language skills of students in their early years. These activities range from work books, art, and discovery activities.
  9. Writing Skills Enhancement
     Hope English aims to routinely enhance the students writing skills focusing and basing on the following IELTS writing descriptors: task achievement; coherence and cohesion; lexical resource; and grammar range and accuracy.
